RESOLVED: That the MSMS conduct a survey of the recent graduates, residents in the state of Michigan, in order to evaluate the need for a formal medical economics curriculum as a part of residency programs; and be it further RESOLVED: That the MSMS ask the AMA, in consultation with the ACGME, to update or develop a formal curriculum on medical economics for residents.RATIONALE: The Committee heard testimony that a formal curriculum on medical economics had already been created by the AMA and/or the ACGME; however, since documentation of the curriculum was not presented and could not be obtained during deliberation, the Committee amended the second resolved portion to reflect its support of the resolution.
