RESOLVED: That our AMA lobby The Joint Commission to enact common sense regulations aimed at cost and time efficiency and to protect patient safety; and be it further RESOLVED: That our AMA work with the appropriate regulatory agencies to allow mixing dilating drops before the cataract surgery in the operating room by the operating team to save time and money and to eliminate wasting resources; and be it further RESOLVED: That our AMA raise awareness of scientific validity and evidence base of the several regulations promulgated by a plethora of regulating agencies.RATIONALE: The Committee did not believe this to be the most efficient and timely pathway to achieve the author’s goal. Instead, the Committee recommends that the author work with his respective specialty society to make an official request to the AMA.
