RESOLVED: That MSMS work with hospitals and medical staffs to establish rules that require all patient visits to be supervised by a physician and that before any consultation with non-emergency department physicians, midlevels discuss cases with their supervising emergency department physicians.RATIONALE: The Committee believed that existing statutes and guidance pertaining to scope of practice and supervision are sufficient. The Committee indicated that the supervision of mid-levels in hospital settings should be addressed at the medical staff level.
