RESOLVED: That MSMS explore ways to make it easier for physicians to learn about individual patient’s drug formulary limits to allow easier prescribing such as better real-time access to up-to-date, accurate formulary lists including electronic options.RATIONALE: The Committee believed that the creation of a national uniform drug formulary could have legal implications. However, it recognized the difficulty caused by the current drug reconciliation process. The Committee agreed all formularies that are used by insurers should be immediately available to physicians online. The author was open to friendly amendments suggested during testimony.
