RESOLVED: That MSMS and the MSMS Foundation establish a named fund to support Dorothy M. Kahkonen, MD, Memorial Award to be distributed annually at the MSMS Annual Scientific Meeting; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That a newly established Dorothy M. Kahkonen, MD, Memorial Award be awarded annually to a Michigan medical student who has meaningfully participated and published in the peer reviewed literature, basic or clinical translational research associated with diabetes and metabolic diseases; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That a certificate of recognition and a modest stipend be presented to the medical student selected to receive the newly established Dorothy M. Kahkonen, MD, Memorial Award for his or her efforts; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That MSMS appoint a team of three practicing physicians to review the work of the medical student candidates applying for the newly established Dorothy M. Kahkonen, MD, Memorial Award and annually select a recipient.
