RESOLVED: That MSMS work with the appropriate medical specialty societies, the office of the Michigan Surgeon General, the Michigan Department of Community Health, and public and private health insurance plans to create a state-wide educational program for the public and medical practitioners to increase their awareness of postpartum depression and depressive symptoms in pregnant women; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That MSMS work with all third-party payers to ensure that maternity benefits include the timely use of validated clinical screening tools to identify depression starting at the first prenatal care visit and continuing until the end of the first year post partum.
