On behalf of: Michigan Association of Public Health and Preventive Medicine Physicians

Committee: D (Public Health)

Resolved Section(s):
RESOLVED: That MSMS petition Governor Snyder to re-establish by executive order the Michigan Department of Public Health, to be organized in a way to create a public health structure that can effectively assure the overall health of Michigan residents.RATIONALE: There was overwhelming support of this resolution. For the past twenty years the state cut back funding and support of public health. Michigan’s structure for public health has disintegrated and having a department specifically for public health, in the opinion of the Committee, offers the structure that Michigan’s citizens and the system desperately needs.
