RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to request that the Institute of Medicine perform a study on the economic and health impacts of defensive medicine; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to ensure the data on defensive medicine is available by state. RATIONALE: The AMA has exiting policy stating that it will study the true costs of defensive medicine and the financial impact that tort reform would have on the entire health care system. The Committee recommended to take no action at this time as the AMA report is scheduled to be released in June 2010.
