RESOLVED: That MSMS create a task force to conduct a review of the impact of conventional continuing medical education (CME) on physician knowledge, skills and behavior; other methods and approaches, not currently linked to re-licensure, that will assure our patients that the knowledge, skills and behaviors of our members meet currently accepted standards; other methods and approaches that will assure our patients that our members are continuously re-evaluating their practice of medicine and striving to improve it; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the report on the findings of a new MSMS task force on continuing medical education be made to the MSMS Board of Directors with the intention of influencing any proposed requirements for re-licensure.RATIONALE: With the need for re-evaluation of continuing medical education methods in mind, the Committee believed more study is needed to determine its resulting effect on re-licensure.
