RESOLVED: That MSMS urge Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and its subsidiaries to change their “original signature policy” to the general insurance industry’sstandard of practice.REFERENCE COMMITTEE RATIONALE: The Committee noted that the resolution and information received from BCBSM are not consistent as BCBSM has indicated that it is their policy to accept faxed and phoned prescriptions. The original author was not available to clarify the situation or details which initiated the introduction of the resolution. If physicians are having problems with pharmacies accepting faxed signatures, they are encouraged to contact the MSMS Reimbursement Advocate.
