RATIONALE: The Committee discussed this issue at length. Questions arose during testimony about how far and reaching this resolution should go. It is the recommendation of the Committee that the MSMS Board continue to study the effects and prevalent use of analogs and other novel synthetic drugs, and to create policy that would cover the larger issue of drug abuse. The second issue that was widely discussed was the reach that MSMS should advocate when dealing with the specific chemicals listed in the resolution. The Committee believed that there are a majority of products such as hair dyes and makeup that have the aforementioned chemicals included in their products. The Committee believed that the inclusion of significant quantity would only single out the products that could cause the most harm.
