RESOLVED: That MSMS convey to the Food and Drug Administration support for the continued availability of propoxyphene and related compounds; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to study the safety issues related to propoxyphene and report on these with appropriate recommendations; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to convey to the Food and Drug Administration support for the continued availability of propoxyphene and related compounds.REFERENCE COMMITTEE RATIONALE: Although the Committee heard testimony on both sides of this issue, the Committee ultimately decided that the banning of darvon is within the jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and not the AMA.
