RESOLVED: That MSMS endorse legislation that would ban the use of hand-held cell phones and hand-held communication devices while driving; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to endorse legislation that would ban the use of hand-held cell phones and hand-held communication devices while driving.REFERENCE COMMITTEE RATIONALE: While some voiced concerns about the quality of evidence regarding hand-held device use while driving, the Committee heard testimony that the vast majority of states already have varying levels of hand-held, all-cell-phone, and/or text-messaging bans in place. The Committee amended the resolution to make it broader to include all types of hand-held communication devices.
