RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to proactively improve its transparency, accountability, and communication by providing rationale for positions to constituent societies and members regarding its actions pertaining to all health care legislation.RATIONALE: The Committee heard testimony from members of the Michigan Delegation to the AMA who felt that the AMA was communicating effectively as well as from physicians who felt that the AMA did not clearly and effectively communicate its position about the Accountable Care Act. While the Committee recognizes the time commitment made by the Michigan Delegation representatives and appreciates their sacrifices made to represent Michigan at the AMA level, many physicians were not happy with the position taken by the AMA on federal health care reform. The Committee amended this resolution to read:RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to proactively improve its transparency, accountability, and communication by providing rationale for positions to constituent societies and members regarding its actions pertaining to all health care legislation.
