RESOLVED: That MSMS work with state government and/or seek legislation to replace the term “fetal distress” in all official state of Michigan forms and publications with the term “nonreassuring fetal status” followed by space for further description of findings consistent with current scientific and medical terminology; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That MSMS work with state government and/or seek legislation to change the title of section 34 of the Hospital Worksheet Form DCH-0486E (6/04) from “Complications of Labor and/or Delivery” to “Perinatal Events” to better reflect the contents of that section.RATIONALE: The Committee added the second resolved because the term “Complications” may risk legal interpretation.
