RESOLVED: That MSMS encourage the various third party payers in Michigan that are planning a “medical home care model” to provide adequate reimbursement to the primary physicians; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to lobby for a white paper regarding the formulation and payment methods of “patient centered medical homes” by third party payers.RATIONALE: Due to current activities by AMA, MSMS, and various specialty societies, the Committee agreed the intent of the resolution is already being addressed. Additionally, AMA policy supports a payment structure for Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). Finally, MSMS has been and continues to be involved in a variety of educational efforts to raise awareness about PCMH and Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs).
