Committee: A (Medical Care Delivery)

Resolved Section(s):
RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to work with and request the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to use their good offices to lobby with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to provide adequate payment for primary care physicians so that all the questions and concerns of the patients are addressed, including the 10 questions AHRQ would like all patients to ask their physicians during an office visit.RATIONALE: The Committee acknowledged the frustration of increased time demands without corresponding reimbursement. However, the Committee believed that encouraging improved patient involvement reflects good standard of practice. The Committee agreed that patients who are better informed and prepared often improve the productivity and value of office visits.
