Saginaw Area Physician Receives Award for Dedication to Michigan Patients,
Leadership in Passing “Patients First Reform Package”
LANSING, MI — State Senator Roger Kahn was honored this weekend with the Michigan State
Medical Society’s Presidential Citation, the Society’s top honor, for his years of work in the
physician’s office and in the legislature on behalf of Michigan patients.
Senator Kahn (R-Saginaw Township), himself a Medical Doctor, was instrumental in the
2012 passage of the “Patients First Reform Package,” common sense reforms that put patients
first and made Michigan a more appealing state in which to start a practice and treat residents,
seniors, children and families.
“By leading and advocating reforms that protect Michigan seniors, children and families
while empowering physicians to keep their eyes fixed on what is best for their patients, Senator
Kahn has consistently stood up for quality health care,” said Michigan State Medical Society
Immediate Past-President John G. Bizon, M.D. “Common sense reforms like the Patients First
Reform Package are a major step towards a healthier Michigan and better access to care and
would not have happened without Senator Kahn’s leadership.”
The Michigan State Medical Society is a professional association of more than 15,000
Michigan physicians. Its mission is to promote a health care environment which supports
physicians in caring for, and enhancing the health of Michigan citizens through science, quality,
and ethics in the practice of medicine. Please visit www.msms.org for more information.
