Budget Downside: GME May Face Cut in 2014

Contrasting his proposal this week to expand Medicaid, the governor’s FY 2014 budget also included a 7% cut to graduate medical education (GME) funding, a move that will make it even harder to keep physicians in Michigan and avoid the impending shortage. MSMS will work with key lawmakers to fight the proposed cut and ensure that GME funding is appropriately maintained.
