In December 2016, the Federal Register published a final ruling banning the sale and use of powdered surgical and examination gloves, effective January 18, 2017. End users who have purchased powdered gloves must stop using them on that date or risk being in violation of the Food and Drug Administration ban on these products as adulterated item that are unsafe for use.

The MSMS Glove Program, administered by Association Gloves and Supplies, will reach out to buyers of powdered gloves to notify them of this ban in an effort of helping to select another glove.
