Earlier this week, physician leaders from the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) advocated on issues that are important to your practice at the American Medical Association’s (AMA) National Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC. After the AMA briefings, physicians and staff met with members of the Michigan Congressional Delegation to emphasize the importance of ensuring that the changes that led to the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) fix work for physicians, focusing efforts to "Break the Red Tape" of meaningful use by making Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems less burdensome, and supporting strategies to combat opioid misuse. MSMS physician members shared real life stories of how these issues affect their practices and patients, which is a powerful tool for making changes at the federal level.
