Real-Time Prescription Benefit Inquiry Survey

The AMA encourages your participation in a survey being conducted by the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP). The NCPDP is the organization responsible for creating and maintaining prescription drug electronic standards. Input from the health care industry will help set priorities for the creation of a real-time prescription benefit inquiry (RTPBI) transaction, as well as determine the scope of content for a future RTPBI transaction.

An RTPBI transaction is intended to provide patient-specific prescription benefit information to prescribers at the point of care. The survey contains use cases which identify specific content areas possible for the RTPBI. Strong physician participation in the survey will ensure physicians' need for accurate, patient-specific prescription benefit data at the point of prescribing is heard.
