WHAT:
Physicians with the Michigan State Medical Society, in partnership with the
Michigan Department of Human Services, on Friday will provide a "Career Day"
for Lansing-area high school students considering careers in health care.
The Career Day will feature presentations and demonstrations from Michigan
physicians, medical students, first responders, and public health officials, among
others.
Participating students are young people in foster care and participants in the
Michigan Youth Opportunity Initiative, which is a partnership between DHS, the
Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative, and other local community
partners. The goal of the MYOI program is to ensure that young people in foster
care have successful outcomes in housing, education, employment, community
engagement and health.
