The Michigan Health Council, with support from the MSMS Foundation, has released a new, enhanced version of their Health Opportunities for Today and Tomorrow (HOTT) website to help encourage Michiganders to explore health care occupations, resources, and training options.
HOTT (
www.mihott.com) was developed by the Michigan Health Council, with support from the MSMS Foundation, in response to the serious shortages of health workforce personnel projected for the State.
Originally developed for high school students, the redesigned site also offers resources for adult career changers.
HOTT provides users with the opportunity to explore over 100 health occupations. The website provides descriptions of each career and profiles of professionals in the field, as well side-by-side comparisons of the salary range, educational requirements, and trend outlooks for each career. Each career path also provides links to colleges, universities, and training programs so users can visit their websites and interact directly with training providers in their fields of interest.
HOTT also provides links to academic funding and other resources for career development and preparation. Users can explore career fairs, mentor and shadow opportunities, health care camps, and a host of other resources posted to HOTT by system partners. Resource exploration can be done geographically, by resource partner, or by career, and the system will automatically notify users when new resources that match their interests become available.
HOTT bridges the gap between students, colleges, and employers, and makes resources available to potential job seekers in a simple, intuitive fashion.
