Over the last few weeks, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has joined Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist to speak with people across Michigan who are concerned about access to health care being threatened with billions of dollars in cuts to Medicaid.
If these proposed cuts happen, 750,000 people across the state could lose access to health care. The cuts would hit even harder in small towns and rural Michigan, where 37% of residents are covered by Medicaid. Many more will deal with the consequences of higher health care costs and shrinking access to health care services.
Behind each of these numbers are our friends and neighbors whose lives would be greatly impacted. Thanks to Medicaid, survivors of breast cancer can afford annual mammograms, more families can get dental care or visit a primary care doctor, and parents can focus on a sick child rather than how they will pay the bill.
If you or a loved one is one of the 2.6 million Michiganders who receive health care from Medicaid, we want to hear from you. Click the link below to fill out the survey and share your story with us.

Gov. Whitmer and MDHHS are committed to listening and amplifying the voices of those who will bear the burden of proposed cuts to Medicaid.
Together, we will keep fighting to ensure that every person in Michigan can live a healthy life.
