Broken into two sessions, the morning will focus on safe opioid prescribing and overdose prevention. Completion of this course will fulfill the minimum three hours of continuing medical education in the in the area of pain and symptom management required by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
During this session Cara Poland, MD, will describe the regulatory framework for safe opioid prescribing, dissolve common misconceptions that lead to under treatment of legitimate pain patients, and discuss expected best practices for opioid prescribing. Stephen Alsum of Grand Rapids Red Project will help you implement strategies to effectively counsel patients on overdose risk and opioid safety as well as apply "SAMHSAs Opioid Overdose Toolkit" into your practice.
The afternoon session will focus on retirement planning. Daniel J. Schulte, JD, Nathan Mersereau, CFP, and Virginia Gibson, CEBS, will share their knowledge and help you navigate through the personal, professional, and financial aspects of retirement.
