Robert F. Flora, MD, MBA, MPH, a Grand Blanc board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, was elected to Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) Board of Directors during the 158th annual meeting of the MSMS House of Delegates held in Dearborn on April 23rd.
A graduate of the University of Toledo College of Medicine, Doctor Flora will serve a three-year term as a Designated Director to the MSMS board, serving as the board’s Designated Institutional Official (DIO) representing the interests of the state’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) community. The MSMS Board sets policies and oversees operations for the 15,000-member medical society headquartered in East Lansing.
Doctor Flora serves as Chief Academic Officer/ VP of Academic Affairs /Designated Institutional Officer for McLaren Health Care. He also holds the position of Professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine and Clinical Professor at the College of Osteopathic Medicine. Prior to joining McLaren, Flora served as Director of Medical Education and Designated Institutional Officer for Providence Hospital and Medical Center in Southfield, Michigan.
The Michigan State Medical Society is the statewide professional association operating as the voice of all physicians in Michigan and is affiliated with the American Medical Association. Physician policies on various issues involving public health, health care delivery and medical ethics are set at the annual MSMS House of Delegates meeting.
