Natasha Bagdasarian, MD, MPH, FIDSA, FACP, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Chief Medical Executive, spoke with physician leaders from across the state to give updates on public health in Michigan. Current flu vaccine numbers were discussed, and she was interested in the physicians’ thoughts on how to increase the rate of immunization in all areas. She reiterated the importance of the Standing Recommendation for the COVID-19 vaccine, issued in September, and wanted to assure physicians that their patients can receive their vaccine. Dr. Bagdasarian also highlighted ongoing respiratory virus trends, emphasized the need for strong clinical messaging to counter vaccine misinformation, and encouraged continued collaboration with MDHHS to identify barriers to vaccine access and uptake. She noted that MDHHS remains committed to supporting practices with updated guidance and resources as the respiratory season evolves.
Dr. Bagdasarian shared several resources that she recommended physicians use to help reinforce vaccination efforts within their communities. You can subscribe to newsletters and access information at the Michigan Health Communications Initiative site as well as these other valuable resources.
