Earlier this week, physician leaders from the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) advocated on issues that are important to your practice at the American Medical Association’s (AMA) National Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC. After the AMA briefings, physicians and staff met with members of the Michigan Congressional Delegation to discuss:
- Prior authorization
- Opioid treatment
- Budget (i.e. misvalued codes, MACRA fixes, community health centers)
- Medicare Physician Payment Reform
- Medicaid expansion and funding
- Electronic health records
MSMS physician members shared real life stories of how these issues affect their practices and patients, which is a powerful tool for making changes at the federal level.
