Monday, September 18, 2017

The Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) Foundation is poised to support the state's physicians as new Medicare payment system changes take effect in 2019, thanks to a $150,000 grant from the Physician's Foundation.

The two-year grant will be used to develop a suite of resources, programs and tools to leverage implementation of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA).

"Our goal is to ensure physicians and patients alike get the most benefit possible from the MACRA changes," said MSMS Foundation President Dorothy M. Kahkonen, MD. "This grant project will help us support Michigan's medical community as they navigate the steep learning curve that lies ahead."

The MSMS Foundation will offer all-day conferences and on-demand webinars to address the complex and significant changes affecting how physicians are paid. The organization also will provide practical information about key action steps and time frames.

The MSMS Foundation has already developed a massive communication plan to provide guidance to simplify the MACRA transition. All manner of communication tools will be employed offering concise information as physicians and their health care teams work together to navigate the new system.

As more information becomes available, MSMS Foundation will remain at the forefront of the changes providing physicians and physician leaders with information to remain successful. For more on our MACRA services, please visit https://MSMS.org/MACRA.
