When it came to legislative activity, 2019 was a jam-packed year, to say the least. The opening of the 2019-2020 legislative session, Michigan’s 100th Legislature, welcomed several new faces to Lansing – throughout the Executive and Legislative branches.
Democrat Gretchen Whitmer began her tenure as Governor with several new cabinet appointees. And new and returning lawmakers, alike, assumed leadership roles in the Republican-led House and Senate.
While legislative activity spanned across policy areas in 2019, health care has and will remain ripe for legislative and regulatory action. Below is a briefing prepared by MSMS staff of the issues of consequence to physicians and patients that MSMS has been tracking throughout the year and will continue to work closely on in 2020.
