MOC: Write the House Health Policy Committee today!

Tuesday, November 20, 2018

Just last month, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) announced that beginning January 1, 2019 BCBSM will grant Maintenance of Certification (MOC) exceptions for family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatric practitioners if their board certification status has lapsed and they are a designated patient centered medical home physician. This will allow the practitioner to remain in their Blue Cross and BCN managed care networks.

As part of its MOC initiative, Right2Care, the Michigan State Medical Society through Rep. Edward 'Ned’' Canfield, DO, introduced HBs 4134 and 4135 which reins in MOC red tape, ensuring Michigan patients have a right to the highest quality health care, and that physicians have the right to deliver it.

Please write the lawmakers in the Michigan House Health Policy Committee today to ask them to make the BCBSM-enacted policy permanent and roll it out across all specialties.
