A new physician loan program -- the Michigan Loan Reimbursement and Employment Solution (MiLES) -- will be accepting applications January 2 - February 28. The program is open to MD or DO physicians in their last 2 years of residency in these specialties: family medicine, internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry, or OB-GYN.
In exchange for 2 years of service in a medically underserved area of Michigan, qualifying physicians will receive $50,000 in loan reimbursement in one lump sum while still in residency. Also, as part of MiLES, the Michigan Health Council will assist resident physicians in finding career opportunities. Visit milesprogram.org for an application and more information.
Employers interested in participating in MiLES should visit milesprogram.org for more information and to submit their job opportunities. There is no cost to post jobs or to participate in the program.
