As tradition dictates, Michigan’s legislators have once again convened on Mackinac Island for the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Mackinac Policy Conference. This annual gathering brings together lawmakers, lobbyists, business leaders, nonprofit organizations, and members of the media for meaningful discussions on Michigan’s most pressing political and economic issues.
The Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) is actively working to ensure the voices of Michigan’s physicians are heard throughout the event. Immediate Past-President Mark Komorowski, MD, and Government Relations Director Kate Dorsey have been on the ground, attending key meetings and events throughout the week. They have met with legislators from both the House and Senate, representing a range of influential committees from Regulatory Affairs to Health Policy.
In addition to engaging with policymakers, MSMS has also connected with other key organizations in the health care sector, including hospital systems and insurers, reinforcing our commitment to policies that support physicians and improve patient care across Michigan.
MSMS participation at events scheduled during the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Mackinac Policy Conference ensures physicians’ priorities remain front and center in the minds of decision-makers, while also strengthening relationships that enable us to advocate effectively on behalf of Michigan’s physicians.
