Friday, May 19, 2023

The Michigan Clinicians for Climate Action (MiCCA) is hosting a virtual education event, “Climate Smart Healthcare,” on June 6th at 10:00 am.  Panelists will highlight the system changes needed for increased sustainability in the health care system with a focus on supply chain, the prioritization of equity within our health care system, and the biggest hurdles to success without compromising our standards of care. Registration is now open and free.

MiCCA is a coalition of Michigan health professionals focused on mitigation and prevention of adverse health effects of climate change through educating, empowering, and engaging health professionals, the general public, and policy makers.  Visit MiCCA’s website to learn more about available resources, upcoming activities, and how to become more involved.

On a related note, the 2023 Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) House of Delegates approved Resolution 45-23, “Decarbonization of Health Care Facilities,” which directs MSMS to support the reduction of the greenhouse gas profile of health care facilities and the involvement of physicians in this effort.  You may access the full text of the resolution via the MSMS Resolution Archive Database.
