The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released information on additional funds targeted to Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) providers through the Provider Relief Fund. In Michigan, only 1% of the providers that CMS has identified as eligible have applied for funding and applications are the fourth lowest in the nation. The original application deadline has been extended to August 3, 2020. Michigan Medicaid has provided a summary of the program and encourages providers to apply for this additional funding opportunity. Medicaid providers are eligible to apply for the Medicaid funds if they meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Must not have received payment from the General Distribution.
- Must have directly billed Medicaid for healthcare-related services between January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2019.
- Must have provided patient care after January 31, 2020.
Additional information including the application process may be found here.
