Whether it’s advocating on legislation, addressing payment concerns with health plans and insurers, or making sure physicians are represented, the MSMS Advocacy team is working on your behalf. The following are highlights from the month of May:

• Met with 15 legislators regarding topics from scope of practice and title transparency to physician burnout and gender-affirming care.
• Went to six legislative fundraisers.
• Attended the Detroit Chamber’s Mackinac Policy Conference along with MSMS Immediate Past-President Mark Komorowski, MD.
• Appointed to and attended the first meeting of the Michigan Chronic Disease Registry (MiCDR) Advisory Board, which will work closely with the state and health care providers to ensure the work is following the needs of the community. 
• Worked with 20 different practices to resolve a variety of health insurer issues such as provider enrollment, prior authorization, erroneous denials and coding assistance.
• Selected to serve on the newly established Medicaid Advisory Committee.
