The Washtenaw County Medical Society (WCMS) will hold a general session meeting, Get Pumped for CPR, on Tuesday, May 10, at the Ann Arbor City Club located at 1830 Washtenaw Avenue. The meeting is open to the community and all MSMS members, and will discuss the new CPR guidelines and "hands only" training, as well as EMS and local hospital data concerning cardiac arrest survival and factors affecting survival. House Bill 5160 and Senate Bill 647, which proposes CPR training in schools for grades 7-12, will also be discussed. The program will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Also on Wednesday, May 25, WCMS will hold a community outreach meeting titled The Big 3 of Tropical Arboviruses: Zika, Dengue, and Chikungunya. Doctor Emily K. Shuman, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan, will discuss the latest data on the Zika virus, Dengue fever, and Chikungunya as it relates to Michigan, and how these arboviruses may effect travel inside and outside the United States for the summer months. This event is also at the Ann Arbor City Club located at 1830 Washtenaw Avenue, and begins at 7:00 p.m.
