The Doctors Company, the nation's largest physician-owned medical malpractice insurer, and the sponsored carrier for the Michigan State Medical Society has announced a $26 million dividend, which is made possible by the excellent claims experience of The Doctors Company's members. Since 1976, The Doctors Company has paid nearly $400 million in dividends, and 2017 marks the 12th year in a row that the company has awarded dividends. The 2017 dividend, approved by The Doctors Company's Board of Governors, will provide a premium reduction of 10 percent to eligible members of the Michigan State Medical Society. Eligible members will receive this year's dividend on their annual premium for policy renewals on or after July 1, 2017.
