Earlier this year, the Michigan State Medical Society reported on the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs' revision of its online physician license renewal application form. That form now includes a question and attestation addressing compliance with the Michigan Public Health Code's provisions regarding the adoption of a written medical records policy for protecting, maintaining and providing access to medical records, generally, and in the event of retirement, a sale, closure or other cessation of a licensed medical practice.
