Henry Ford Medical Group recognized by the AMA for 100 Years of Contributions to Medicine and Humanity

Henry Ford Medical Group was honored by the American Medical Association for its "100 years of outstanding contributions to medicine and humanity" during the recent AMA annual meeting in Chicago. 

A framed certificate was presented to John Popovich, Jr., MD, Henry Ford Hospital President & CEO and Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Officer of Henry Ford Health System, along with Henry Ford Hospital Vice President Richard E. Smith, MD, as well as other leaders from the Henry Ford Medical Group on the floor of AMA meeting by AMA President Steven J. Stack, MD, AMA Immediate Past President Robert M. Wah, MD, and AMA Executive Vice President & CEO James L. Madara, MD. 

The certificate read in part: "On behalf of the American Medical Association, we applaud the physician leaders whose loyal membership in the AMA demonstrates their commitment to upholding the Principles of Medical Ethics, which set the highest standards for the profession." 

AMA President-elect Andrew W. Gurman, M.D., told the 1,500 delegates and guests at the meeting that many leaders from the Henry Ford Medical Group have contributed greatly to the success of the AMA including the late Ronald M. Davis, M.D., who served as AMA president from 2006-2007.

"Henry Ford Medical Group is not only one of the largest medical groups in the nation, but through its model of collaboration and innovation it is recognized as a leader in clinical care, education and research," said Dr. Gurman.
