Cheryl Gibson Fountain, MD, FACOG, a Grosse Pointe Park obstetrician/gynecologist, was elected president-elect of the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) during the 151st annual meeting of the MSMS House of Delegates on May 1 in Dearborn.

Doctor Gibson Fountain, a graduate of the Wayne State University School of Medicine, will serve a one-year term as president-elect until she assumes the presidency of MSMS in April 2017.

Doctor Gibson Fountain is Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Oakland University-William Beaumont School of Medicine and attending physician at Beaumont Health Systems, Grosse Pointe/Royal Oak and St. John Hospital and Medical Center, Detroit.

Doctor Gibson Fountain is past president of the Wayne County Medical Society of Southeast Michigan. She serves on the Detroit Regional Infant Mortality Reduction Task Force and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Physician and Professional Provider Contract Advisory Committee.
