Deadline Extended for Mridha Award Nominations To celebrate and inspire volunteerism, a prestigious annual award has been established through the MSMS Foundation. The "Mridha International Physician Volunteer Award," established by Debasish Mridha, MD, a Saginaw County neurologist, and his family, will recognize and support one outstanding physician member of MSMS each year who provides volunteer medical care and/or counsel outside of the US. The deadline for nominations has been extended to February 29.

Each year The Tri-County Medical Society Alliance hosts a program to raise goods for those in our community that are less fortunate.

EAST LANSING – The Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) Foundation Board of Trustees awarded grants at its 2011 grants meeting to Allegiance Health Foundation of Jackson; American Diabetes Association in Bingham Farms; Riverside Health Clinic in Three Rivers; and World Medical Relief, Inc. in Detroit.

The 2011 Sawhney award winner and lecturer was Doctor Christopher Sonnenday, he presented his lecture, "Health Care and Disparities 2011: What Can Surgeons Do?"

In recognition of his lifelong leadership and mentorship of countless individuals, the MSMS Foundation has established the Kevin A. Kelly Leadership Fund, which will be used to inspire future leaders to follow Kevin Kelly’s extraordinary example.

The MSMS Foundation makes loans to impaired physicians on a confidential basis, primarily for the purpose of paying for substance abuse rehabilitation. The loan fund is self-sustaining and depends on repayments by recipients to keep loan funds available to future applicants.
