MSMS Champions Bills That Put Patients First
by Ensuring Access

ImageA package of tort reform bills that MSMS helped craft have recently been introduced in the Michigan Senate. The “Patients First Reform Package” would preserve access and keep physicians in Michigan by:

--Closing a confusing legal loophole that allows unnecessary suits to be filed;
--Protecting patients by bringing more health care professionals under medical malpractice guidelines;
--Putting patients first—not their lawyers—by preventing trial lawyers from artificially inflating awards; and more.

TAKE ACTION NOW – Use the MSMS Action Center to contact your state senator and urge his/her support of this package. Or call your senator directly.

To that end, the Michigan Fitness Foundation is offering physician practices a “Health through Literacy” kit that contains a variety of children’s books, take-away information sheets, and more.

Public Health Crap Shoot: Vaccination Mandate Could Be Repealed

immun needle The recently-introduced House Bill 5605 aims to repeal the requirement of hospitals and clinics to vaccinate their employees against influenza. MSMS opposes the bill because it poses a public health danger--not only to health workers who choose not to get vaccinated, but also to anyone who comes into contact with them (co-workers, patients, visitors, family members, etc.).
