Senate Delays Medicare Cut Until October 1;
Urge House to Approve This Action &
Work on Permanent SGR Repeal | | On March 10, the US Senate delayed the effective date of a 21.2 percent Medicare pay cut for physicians until October 1. The bill, which the Senate passed in a 62-36 vote, now goes to the House for its approval. Until the SGR is permanently repealed, however, physicians and their patients will remain trapped in a cycle of progressively steeper cuts being threatened and reversed, a cycle that has lasted for more than 10 years.
