Have the Deletion and Changes made for 2010 in consultation codes left you confused? For 2010, CMS Medicare has deleted all consultation codes (except Telehealth) and CPT has made significant changes in its guidelines for coding consultations. As your practice continues to see patients for evaluation of problems, opinions regarding surgery or pre-operative issues, what are you supposed to document, code, and bill? How do you handle when a patient has two insurances that each follow different rules. Get the latest from Medicare, Michigan based insurances, and other insurance carriers on their stance on Consultation codes for both inpatients and outpatients. Are there any tools that can be used to help appropriately coding for these services? Tough questions, that need answers.
